Mid range rpm noise
earlier this week i passed my motorcycle licence test. And i took my klx out for the first time and noticed a rattle at about 5000-6500 rpm range
it sounds almost like the sound posted in another thread
i think it is the CCT, even though i took it out to look at it a (no broken or flat teeth)
i am looking at buying another OEM one, is there a good chance of it fixing the sound issue?
ps. should i stop riding the bike until fixed
pps a manual will end up costing me 30-50% more because of import tax hence the reason for giving oem a try

Sounds like a failing CCT. Classic.
Mark may join in and explain more, but if you look on his website you'll see some of the failure evidence is fairly minute and not easy to plainly see. As much as these things fail, I'd spend the extra for his manual tensioner over another OEM unit.
Ride it in the meantime.
Krieger's cam chain tensioner site: KLX250/300

If its louder on the right side, its the cam chain tensioner failing. Don't get another OEM. Get the manual one from the member here (can't think of his name at the moment), it's a LOT better and will last. Very easy to install and adjust.

If you just noticed it, you should be okay for a few thousand Km without any risk. It is when it gets really sloppy that bits can break or the chain slack can allow the chain to jump a tooth.
noticed it first ride (bought used) i do not know how long it has been there it could have been there for over 10000 km for all i know, but judging from the wear on the cct shaft my guess would be not there for long since it does not have flat teeth or very noticeable low spots
after reinstalling the old CCT the noise has been a little less loud and not quiet as loud as the vid from the other member (was quiet for the first few mins of riding)
