on the fmf site it says the megabomb header is suppose to lower the sound output by 1.5dbs.

i'm just wondering did anyone notice this or does the bike sound different with this header?

 

Wouldn't buy one just for the db reduction claim, don't think you'd notice any difference in (0- 1.5db) at the ear.

 

Breathing and Rustling leaves in the distance come in at 10 DB so 1.5 db is like a rustling leave 1/2 mile away.

 

the megabomb is a cool sound it "pings" just subtle enough to sound almost like a 2 stroke with works pipe at idle if you put your ear a few feet away from the header... I think it is the air pressure slapping against the wall of the expansion chamber

 

i didn't buy the megabomb for the 1.5db reduction. i just haven't had the time to install it yet, busy with work & still dealing with crappy weather. i have the twobros pipe, still haven't heard that either...i know, sucks. but i had thought that big "bubble" in the pipe has to do something with the sound.

i couldnt stop laughing when i read this. i have a pair of old work pants i called my "sunday best" cus they had so many holes from the header, needless to say the pants where so sort of synthetic plastic crap.

not to scare anyone way from fmf's product, but has anyone herd of a mega bomb cracking where the welds are? i think mine may be doing just that, or i may just stare at my bike to much (makes you feel good when you stare at a toy you bought 2 years ago and still cant get over it)

also, anyways to clean it, maybe steel wool, not sure if its finish or anything.

and the "bomb" is a expansion chamber that helps tune the exhaust propertys so as to help scavenging, or in lamions terms, the exhaust is actually starting to help pull its self out becuase of the flow characteristics for the exhaust design. im pretty sure the mega bomb was the og design, then the fmf guys developed the mega, then the companys started using chambers like the drd design.
