Default mechanical help?

Last night I was trying to take off my stock front sprocket so that I can replace it with a 13 tooth. When I try to bturn the large nut that holds it on, it keeps turning the motor. Is there a trick to getting these things off? Are they reverse thread?

Kawi puts that nut on very tight. It has normal threads. Get someone to hold the rear brake on while you try to break the nut free or use an impact wrench.

Ride on

Put the spanner on and give it a swift tugg. haha! Did I really write that? You'll need someone sitting on the bike with their foot on the rear brake. Thread is standard.

When I did mine, I had to make sure the washer was flattened out real good, spray on a little penetrating oil, bike in gear, rachet strap thru swing arm and back wheel, step on back brake while leaning over bike, and get it with a breaker bar and socket.

+1 on the impact gun. It's one of the best tools you can invest in.

I sat on the bike, foot on the brake and pushed on the extra long breaker bar. It worked, but probably wasn't the easiest method.

Just use the spanner wrench that came with it. I work in a shop dont use the gun it can damage the gears in the transmission. Wedge the spanner between the starter housing and rock the bike back and forth with you on it. It will braek loose.

another quick question on the subject...what size is that nut that holds the sprocket on? I currently don't have a large enough socket, and they won't let me take the bike in the hardware store to find out what i need
