Making room for handguards..
#21
I just swapped out stock bars for renthals and I think they might be a tad shorter because everything didn't want to fit. I had to remove the cross bar to get ample room. My problem was the front brake line and the clutch cable. Seemed no matter what I did I couldn't find a way to get them even. The mounts for these guards are pretty beefy and take up quite a bit of real estate.
I finally took the bark busters off and bent them both slightly to fit each side. They are tough!!
Does anybody know why Kawi engineers thought it was a good idea to use phillips head screws (with extra soft heads super stripable) for some things and hex heads for others? Wouldn't hex heads have worked in both applications and made messing with the bar accessories a ONE tool opperation?
What kind of angle do you guys find best for your bars. I've got my renthals pulled all the way back. I haven't riden yet because of rain but it seems I have a more upright riding posture.
What are the pros and cons of having bars forward or back?

guards
As far as the phillips screws go all manufacturers do it they are the cheapest cost wise for them. I know a lot of guys go out and buy quality allen head stuff for all of their fasteners, makes for a lot less tools you have to carry and stripping stuff does not usually happen any more. Bar position is a personal thing depends on your physical size and riding style, I personally am an ex trials rider so I am standing up on the pegs 95% of the time(old habits die hard) so my bars are what most guys would say are to far forward for them. Just have to find the position that you are most comfy with.
