I guess if your target is the XT225, it's a home run.

IMO the XR250 Motard looks wayy better.. I actually had one before my KLX, but I traded it in for my Klx.. I had off road tires and rims on it..

I'm a big Honda fan. My family owns a 2005 CRF50F (currently under repair ;-), 2005 CRF150F (a slug), 2003 XR70R, and a 2000 XR80R (like the energizer bunny). My personal first bike was a 1999 XR400R. They are very "middle of the road" feature and design-wise. But they just run...and run...and run. (except the 400...she was a runnin' beyotch...but then again she was race prepped)

But the next new bikes I buy will likely be Kawasakis. I'm very impressed with the quality of my KLX, and Kawasaki has bikes of comparable size to Honda, all with bigger displacements.

Of course my boys (6, 8, and 13) all want 2 smokes or loud exhausts. Put an FMF on the 80 the other day (great deal on Ebay - $150) and my wife about clobbered me.

What Honda ought to do is make a Motard styled XR600 for the street. I may buy one of those if they would ever do it.

I think the Kawasaki is a much better decision. Guess that's why I have mine...
Not much more needs to be said than that...

1)fork boots

2)air cooled

3)2009

4)no way

We get this down here. Not a really big seller due to the age of the donor engine. Easy to tune though and lots of hop ups available.

If they would have put some cr450f forks and moto wheels on the xr650l like Suzuki did to the drz they would have had a winner.

that 400cc honda engine is very powerful. I had a 400EX, 2005 and that thing would not keep the front end down. more power than my DRZSM400.

I had a 99 XR400 - same frame and engine. Bitch to start...I'm told by a guy who used to race the 400's that every one had a "trick" you had to learn to start on the first kick. In a year and a half I started it on the first 3 kicks about twice. Once I got it started it was a blast. It tried to kill me a couple times. And this was my first bike. rofl...like handing a 6 year old a .357 Magnum.

Damn...this is the first I really missed the ol' girl.
