You have seen the 2009 skid plate haven't you? It is a ridiculous postage stamp sized piece of aluminum that barely covers the area under the engine between the frame rails. Yes, you're better with it than naked but I wouldn't go off road without something much more substantial.

 

I have this one. It covers the alternator and water pump pretty well too. I put inner tube rubber between it and the frame so it won't sound like a blown speaker.

I am just curious why you guys are looking for the skid plates? Did you get a used bike with the aftermarket skidplate removed leaveing you with no skidplate at all?
