Here’s my 2007 in Moab back in 2017, a month or two before it was stolen. I still miss it! My ‘07 KLX poses for a night shot at a camp site outside of Moab. I replaced the 2007 with this 2009, pictured here on Colorado’s Alpine Loop in 2018. I hate the red. Been looking for plastics forever. I took off the stickers and plasti-dipped most of it white. Looked pretty cool for a while, but couldn’t hold up to a couple days on the trail. I had to peel it all and now we’re back to red with no stickers. Gotta make a change! My friend’s (then) brand new Honda CRF 250 Rally on the left, another friend’s 2010 (I believe) WR250R in the middle, and my 2009 KLX 250s.
This is my 2014 KLX250S. It was my first bike. It was in an accident, but 85% of the bike including the important parts like engine, trans, wheels, frame, swing arm were all fine so I decided to make it into something cool one day. It’s been sitting in my garage for the past few years so I decided I would try and finish it up for this summer. It will be a street bike, kind of city scrambler/tracker, will destroy pot holes but probably not taken off-road, I’ve got a KTM for that haha. I just got done with the subframe, one of my buddies also happens to be a bad *** welder. I’m finishing up the seat in leather, and need to make an aluminum electronics tray before I tear it down to powder coat it. I’ve also got a round LED headlamp to put on in the front. Will probably do a small metal front fender and maybe some flattrack tires.
Two things to note:
1. I am seriously considering doing either the 351 big bore kit or a mild psi turbo system. I understand single cylinder and turbos aren’t the most efficient way to use boost, at this point I’d just be doing it for the noises and maybe little more power. Ive already gone this for with a KLX why not just send it. I’ve heard good things about the bill blue big bore kit, anyone here know where I should start if I’m trying to get oil to a turbo and somehow get the right abmount of fuel into the engine.
2. Color combos. Kawi green tank/black frame/black wheels OR silver frame and wheels and a blue or bright colored tank OR black/gold or copper or bronze OR gold wheels, green bike?black or brown leather seat?
Lots of options.... let’s hear your favorites???
