Default Bitter Sweet Ride in the Peak District

Nice ride up in the Peak District last Wednesday - sadly it was to ride another of the iconic Peak District green lanes which an unelected unaccountable self-serving selfish group working under the au****es {no idea why this word is bleeped out it - a.u.s.p.i.c.e.s ~ nothing wrong with that in English?} of the National Park have had a Traffic Regulation Order (ban) imposed. The National Parks where set up to give access for all - except it seems nasty riff-raff on motorbikes ~ rant over.

It was a lovely early evening and managed to get a few lanes in, and watch a cracking sunset.

The picture with the chap trying to turn his GS800 around was up on the easy part of Chapel Gate - he had just bought the bike and this was his first time off-tarmac, he did really well as there are some big stone steps just below us that many people struggle to clear.

I ran into the same problem over here in the States this weekend - this is a National Forest that has been gated off because it's a "wildlife management area" and they don't want motorized vehicles terrorizing the turkey and deer before the hunters get a chance to shoot them. I managed to squeeze past this gate for a nice 5-mile trail, but some gates are better positioned than others.

Know it well. Used to be good road until it got a 50mph limit on it - but on my KLX with lowered gearing and full on knobbly tyres 50 is enough. (Worked in Blackburn and lived near Gisburn for 12 years)

Lowered for good reason I think too, been quite a few severe crashes on that road recently.
Grane rd is a road I like to take care on, that and the A666.
Clue is In the name lol.
