KLX300 skidplate fit 07 250s?
Title says it all. I notice there are more and cheaper skidplates available for the 300R than for the 250S. Is the frame, etc the same or different?
I'm asking because I've been trying to get away without a skidplate and even mentioned (not too wisely) in a post that I didn't think I needed one. As it turns out, I believe the 250S (even the 07 model) does definitely need one. As I hit more of the rocky terrain I prefer I find myself impacting way more rocks/ledge than I ever did on the 300R, KDX, or the KTM400. It may be due to lower clearance under the frame even though it's only an inch or so - I seem to be hitting more stuff. No dameage yet, but I'd rather eat a little crow and not leave oil all over the trail. The KDX and KTM both have more clearance and the 300R had KX forks with raising links to keep the geometry. I think that inch makes a real difference.
TIA

FWIW, I like my Scorpion Racing plate, made for the 250, wasn't cheap, but worth every penny.
It has drain holes for oil and coolant, no bolts to be scraped off on bottom, and has drain slits on the bottom to let out water and mud.
Very well made, and they include sticky foam to place between the plate and frame so there are no crazy vibration sounds. Not sure if I'll ever have to take it off, well, maybe to pull the motor...
But aren't the 250 and 300 frames the same, I thought the only difference was displacement? Are the 300 skid plates that much cheaper? I looked at a 300 recently and could swear the frames are the same, but my 250 wasn't around to put them side by side.
See if you can return one if it doesn't fit, if you can get it and see.
Anything is better than nothing, but all things are not created equal.
Caveat emptor.

A couple of reliable online sources I'm familiar with that sell both skidplates indicate that they don't interchange. I don't know why, but they are markedly different part numbers...and yes, the KLX250S versions were slightly more expensive.

I have an '07 KLX250s and an '03 KLX300. The 250 had an aftermarket aluminum skid plate on when I bought the bike so I pulled it off and it fit perfectly on the 300. It mounts using the holes on the frame so they are both the same as far as that goes.

I really would have thought the '06/'07 250 would be identical to the 300. I'm still su****ious about the different part numbers. MSR doesn't do price gouging between models for parts that interchange, so something must be at least slightly different even if you can get them to fit.
