Default KLX250S vs. KLX250H6F -- What are YOU riding?

I thought the KLX250H6F was simply the Canadian model number for the KLX250S, but I'm seeing KLX250H6F models being offered for sale in the US, as well as KLX250S models for sale in Canada. I've even seen both model numbers intermixed in the same Kawasaki documentation!

Does anyone know what the differences are (if indeed there are any differences), or where to go to find this out? Has anybody run across any manufacturers or suppliers that make a distinction between the two? Has anyone run into a situation where the was a difference, and it made a difference?

I haven't checked everyone's signatures, but I'll bet there's a mix of them out there. [sm=interesting.gif]

For anyone who's wondering, I'm riding a KLX250H6F.

Mike

Same here. I think the "S" is just the marketing designator for the newer model - the previous was the "R". BTW, according to the back of the service manual supplement, the KLX250-H6 was the 2004 D-Tracker.

Hmmm... You're right. The documentation I got from Kawasaki says the model is KLX250S. But my dealer noted the model to be KLX250H6F. I wonder what the difference is, if there is any. [sm=dontgetit.gif]

i thaught that the actual model from kawasaki is the klx250h6f, but they just call it the klx250s, i was pretty sure the s was just for "street", and that was a nickname if you will... and the real model # is the h6f... im not sure how correct any of that is....

Well I can think of one obvious difference between canadian and US bikes...
The speedometer and odo are in kms vs. miles.
I'm not sure if this could explain your model number question...

BTW, mine is a 2006 KLX250H6F. [sm=smiley2.gif]

the H6F designation is what Kawasaki Japan call it, Kawasaki US call the model KLX250S, Kawasaki Australia call it KLX250R which is why I have KLX250R in my sig line instead of the S designation you guys have

This is what I heard today indirectly from a customer service rep who spoke with someone inside Kawasaki:

"About what the guy at Kawasaki told me he said that they are identical in the way they are built and that the H6F is just something that the place who distributes them puts on."

So there you have it folks -- "they are identical in the way they are built"!

That clears up everything now, doesn't it?!??

(I think I'll go change my signature to something a little more generic ... )

Mike
