I just wanted to make it clear to everyone that I didn't write what you pasted. I still don't understand your logic in thinking you caught me writing something about the DRZ pertaining to me not liking it or something. Comparing a DRZ400 to a CRF450 is downright ridiculous; to think they would even be close in performance calls for some serious education to the buyer of the DRZ. The CRF makes about 10 more horse than the DRZ and I'm sure more torque as well. This guy should've done his research more before buying the Suzuki. The DRZSM is a sweet bike- sickly good looking, extremely torquey, gobs of oem power, killer brakes, high end components; but it is not going to run like a 510 Husky or KTM. It wasn't made for that. Like someone pointed out earlier, the DRZ would be like a regular non ZO6 Corvette where the Husky or KTM would be more like a Viper or Porsche 911Turbo. Same philosophy, but on a much more toned down scale. But, like the Vette, the DRZ is cheap and can be made just as fast and powerful for less than the entry price into the other two. That's the way I look at it. If I would've wanted a maintenance intense high horsepower bike, I had a TE450 located in Omaha ready for the taking. But, it was going to be nearly $2000 more than my DRZ. For what I wanted, versatility on road and off, the DRZ was the better choice.

 

I don't "want" to sell the DRZ. I love the bike. But the way I look at it, everything has a price if it can be built or manufactured. I'd sell it for the right price, just like I did my KLX and my Harley. I will more than likely keep the DRZ. I absolutely love the look and the torque it has. Today I added a 44-tooth rear sprocket to it and that really made it fun. It revs quicker and longer plus makes it more wheelie prone. Alot of guys use the 15/44 for dirt and usually gear up for road use since the DRZ only has 5 gears. But I mostly ride around the city so I rarely go over 60 mph. The larger sprocket looks better as well. I couldn't pass it up anyways, denniskirk.com had it for $22, talk about a steal for a nice steel rear sprocket from partsunlimited. Next year or maybe sooner, I definitely want to build some silver excel wheels with *****. I already mentioned why the Husky was ruled out. It has no key ignition, not a good road bike, gobs of emission crap on it, no dealers around at all, high maintenance. Nice bikes, but too much money for a dirtbike for me.

 

I think it will be good on tight trails simply because of it's tranny. It's a close ratio and revs quick. It seems there is always a sweet spot if you're in the right gear. It's like electric power if you've got the correct rpm. Not to dog the KLX and realizing it's a 250, but not surprisingly, the KLX just does not have that torque hit of the larger displacement bike. It's why I got rid of it, I wanted more and the rest is history. Look, I love the KLX and if I sold the DRZ tomorrow, I wouldn't rule out another KLX. But the first things I'd do is definitely the big bore kit, FCR of some sort, and exhaust/intake. I'm thinking that would do the trick for me. I could've done that, but you know how it is when someone wants something you're selling and you know you can get a new bike when you sell. If you haven't noticed, I get that bug a lot. The only thing I've kept thru the years, and I didn't originally buy it- my dad did- is a 1984 Mercury Capri RS Turbo. It's still in my parent's garage where it was parked in 1999. That car is extremely rare and it is in great condition and still runs like a top, turbo and all. Everything else I've bought or owned eventually will be sold. I always regret selling things, but that's how it is. You don't know what you got 'til it's gone. I got homework, so I'm out.
