Does anyone know where i can get a fuel gauge for my bike or how to set it up?

 

Fuel gauges need a sender unit in the tank, difficult to retrofit and probably cost inhibitive.
Besides that, with only a 7.5 litre tank, the gauge needle will move faster than the speedo

 

I just want something to tell me how much gas i have in the tank. It is annoying to open it everytime i am curious about how much farther i can go with the fuel left in the tank.

 

That's why most bikes have the main tank and reserve. When you need reserve, time to fill up.

 

use the trip meter, set to zero at every fill up and be looking for fuel at 120km

 

150km for me, but you are right, watch the trip. That way you get no surprises

 

Yep trip meter every time I fill it up. I also don't go to the gas station with the bike unless I'm on a trip. I have like 6 gas cans at home. If you reset the trip meter every time you fill the bike up, at around the 70 mile mark its time to fill it again. And if you are really worried, you can do like I do, any time I am going to adventure into the unknown, I carry a couple of these....

 

As others have said: TRIP METER!! The '09 has two trip meters, so one can be used as a fuel guage, the other as a trip meter.

 

Be careful to note that this bike consumes huge amounts of fuel off road vs. on-road cruising where it is a fuel miser.

You'll need to gain experience with each type of riding and how much fuel you consume. Also note that the odometer is about 10% faster than reality in case you are planning a route where fuel is sparse.

Almost no motorcycles have fuel gauges.

 

Actually its really just the opposite. Compare a constant 7 grand on the tach compared to trail riding at a lot lower. I use way less fuel off road.
