I was wondering what you guys that don't live near a trail wear when you ride the KLX to a trail. The closest trail is about 60 miles from my house and I need to take the super slab to get there. That being said, I wear a full face helmet and street bike gear. However once on the trail, the street gear is too bulky and too hot when you are battling mud and gravel, not to mention that it will be a nightmare to clean if you fall in the mud. I could wear motocross attire but don't feel safe riding with it on the highway. Also what do you guys do for riding pants? I'd like to stop on the way home to grab something to eat and I really can't walk into a place with muddy motocross pants. Are there any good offroad overpants that I could slip off before going into a restaurant?

i got some of the same issues.... usually on the way home i stop at a sheetz or something to grab something to eat... yea, people tend to stare when ur all covered in mud standing in line waiting to pay... its fun though....

 

Man I'm spoiled, I can hit the trails and logging roads within a mile or two from my house. As far as clothing perhaps bryantjt could share what he's using, it seems pretty versatile.

 

Ok, I'm lost, what's a "super slab"?

 

I just picked up a 4x6 trailer at lowes for about $550.00. I pulled up the expanded metal from the deck and installed 2x6 treated boards. Works perfect. I pull it behind my toyota solara. Its easy to park and store and only weighs 250 lbs.

 

Super slab refers to the blacktop I think lol

As far as comfort goes I haven't worn them with the rain liner in yet but the pants are perfect with jeans underneath to about 75 degrees, if you go shorts underneath 75+. The jacket with the outter shell zipped on is comfy with a heavy t shirt up to about 78 while moving. There is a backpack under the outer shell that unclips and you can put the outter shell in it when you zip it off to bring it with you and wear the jacket as an armored mesh jacket. With a heavy T under the mesh its comfortable for darn near anything except if it drops to round 68 degrees you will feel kinda chilled, but just pull over and zip the shell back on.

The pants have the rain liner too and the thighs and around the butt the panel zips off to reveal mesh as well so you do get some ventillation. The legs unzip from the ankle up the side to just below the crotch so even putting them on over thick soled workboots is easy. If you don't feel like taking the pants off but need more air when you reach your destination the legs are double zippered so just zip the top down to your ankle and the sides are completely open.
