That's an aftermarket fuel tank that was made for a while by BAKE, another member here. Last I heard, he no longer makes them (not cost-effective) and the OP here may have got one of the last ones. I think it required re-locating the puke bottle.

Yep, as an owner of a BAKE auxillary tank, I can vouch for that. Glad I was fortunate enough to get one!

I sure wish I could get my hands on one of those.

Yes, me too. Should have jumped on one when they were available. Sad thing is there's probably a dozen or so setting in garages or on derelict crashed bikes just waiting for another happy home.

My buddy has a dozen aluminum oxygen tanks of about 1 gallon volume. The 'disposable' ones used by NORCO. Found them at the dump. The problem is their threaded top is an oddball thread/size pattern and we can't find a bung for them. Otherwise, I could see fixing one of these up as a spare fuel tank.

To be honest I had too much weight a little too high. But I made it 700 miles like that on sometimes rough roads. The little KLX held up.

All you guys are crazy to be putting that kind of miles on the KLX. My back hurts thinking about it.

As it says in Deej's sig:

One out of four people in this country are mentally unbalanced.

Think of your three closest friends. If they seem normal
you're the one!

Did an overnight last Fri/Sat in northern Utah. Here are a few pics from the trip. Packing never shifted once, even though we rode some pretty rough trails. That's Bear Lake in the background of one of the pics. We popped up over this one hill, and were treated to a beautiful view of the lake from about 7 miles away.

Close-up of packed bike... Had a tent, sleeping bag and pad, water purifier, and lots of food.
