The plate looks like an extension to the fender. looks good, like it will act as an added mud flap.

Is it legal, in Texas, to have one's license plate mounted vertically?

I don't know yet. I have seen them mounted on trailers like that, but trailers don't need inspection stickers. I will find out tomorrow when I take it to get a new inspection sticker. (the old one was destroyed because they had it on one of those cheesy little plates that mounts under the license plate) If they don't like it, I'll pick up something to mount it horizontally.

edit: I just looked it up and the orientation is undefined. So if it is visible to the rear, it is okay.

I saw a guy on a KTM who wore his plate on a small backpack to get to the trail, then put it inside when he went offroad.

c m , if you want to mount it horizontally, just drill a couple new holes in the plate to match the new bracket.
