First off let me thank all of you guys that have taken the time to chime in on these KLX mods. Much appreciated.

Bike is in pieces and ready to add all of my new mods. I'M AMPED!!! You know how it feels.

I have found many of the parts suggested although not in one location.

Finding and GETTING seem to be two different animals though.

I ordered a Acerbis 3.7 gal tank from www.justgastanks.com. There were 4 listed in stock. I get an email two days later, last friday, that expected shipping date was 12-24-08. WTF!? I told them to hold the order and they said they had 6 comming in this week, today actually, and would send me one of those.

CUDOS and Thank you. Better a little late than NEXT YEAR!

Not so lucky on the other stuff.

11-26-08 I ordered jet kit, 13t sprocket and hi flow snorkle from www.speedsupplies.com. All listed as being in stock.

TODAY,....NINE DAYS AFTER ORDERING, I get a seperate email for each item I ordered telling me the expected ship date was 12-10-08

Is this NORMAL? I know backorders are inevitable but JEEZ!!

I cancelled the entire order with www.speedsupplies.com.

Does anybody have a recomend for a good reliable parts supplier that has parts in stock? One source would be GREAT,...but wishful thinking i'm sure. I don't mind paying a little more to a good company.

Anyway I'm still AMPED. My sons X-mas break is coming and we'll be able to give this ride the once over (if we get parts)

I can't stand placing online orders for items that are shown as IN STOCK, and then being told days later that the item is BACK ORDERED! It's all too common these days, more common than not! I feel your pain bro.

We run an online business and I understand backorders. Some of our competotors LIVE for orders then try selling what they do have. We try VERY HARD to keep our inventory up to date. We have backorders from time to time but EVERY ITEM???

That's rediculous. If you don't have it,....don't trick me, just say so.

Our problem is living within sight of Timbuktue. It's a long drive to a dealer. Gas + time = never gets done.

Somebody has to have good luck with somebody.

Dennis kirk and Bobs cycle supply have been good to me. Usually items in stock and in the mail in a hurry.

 

saw a secondhand HMF muffler on EBay last night. $150 US. Might be worth a look.

 

I've had the best service from Rocky Mountain ATV. Not sure if they have the parts you are looking for, but if they do, you can generally count on their stock status to be accurate and the ship quickly. Also, free shipping for orders over $100.

I've had good experience from Dennis Kirk, too, old guy mentioned them already.

I just placed an order for the jet mods and sprocket from Ron Ayers. We'll see how they do but their PRICES were killer!! Saved almost $20.00 over the exact parts from speedshop.
