A bridge over one of Montreal's cross-town highways collapsed this afternoon, and while watching the news, I caught a glimpse of a motorcycle that seemed somewhat familiar:



I don't know the details, but I heard the rider was not injured in the collapse, although apparently he did hit the pavement and stopped sliding before slamming into the bridge in front of him. Another shot shows the helmet placed on the ground near the bike, and I heard that the rider helped others that were less fortunate than himself.

The collapse occured around noon, and so far they have only gotten 5 people to the hospital. Workers are still on the scene breaking the collapsed segment into pieces to access cars that were trapped underneath.

Man that's not good, I remember when I was a Jr or senior in high school, (1980 or 81) we had a bridge that was over a raging river in the winter collapse and a log truck, dump truck and a car went in the water. It happened when it was dark and by the time they saw it it was too late. Our logging class went out the next morning and all we could see was the stack on the log truck. Was there a link to the story in English?
