Anyone put amry ammo can panniers on there KLX. I have a 07 with all the mods and HMF exhuast with 13, 14, 15, 16/48 gearing and was wondering how the extra 50lbs on the rear effects proformace or handling. Also any mounting options homemade or store bought. And I know its a klx not a bmw so spare me, but its what I could afford and I love the handling of the little thing.

 

Oh and by the way the reason I ask and the reason for the title. I am planning a 500 mile treak across VA and need somewhere to put all my crap.

Depends on how much you weigh? I weigh around 195 and some guys on this site are pushing 250-260 and the bike performs fine with their extra large "ammo cans"!

Hey its not about what we think or what is "cool" Its about what you like and what works, good for you. Whatever you decide make sure to post pics. I have looked at the wolfman system, I might head that way. But not sure if I will ever take the KLX on a long trip. I bought mine to ride in town, and the local logging roads and of course the trails. Ah yes the trails. I love riding off road more than in town. However I never get tired of someone doing a double take as if I'm riding a dirt bike in town.[8D]

I am 190, so I think it will be fine. I was really hoping for some mounting pics, but I guess I will have to be the first. oh and the double takes are priceless as are the odd looks from cops.
