Default KLX high/lo beam separate elements or

Does hi beam have both hi and lo coming on together?

I've tried to look when my D Tracker light is on, but it's just blinding.

I don't ride at night usually, so I am thinking about using the hi position on the switch for an Off switch position if I disconnect that line inside the switch or near it..

It's one or the other. If I switch mine ('09) slowly both will light up "in between" the switch positions.

Same here if you put my high low switch in the middle both elements will light and it is a little brighter.

I cut the hi beam wire inside the switch yesterday and can tell that not having that powerful headlight draining power at the same time I am starting it is a big plus.

Using the hi beam position as an Off switch may be low tech, but it was quick and easy and still keeps the on/off choice handy at my left thumb.
