See ... people want a good street legal dirt bike and are willing to pay top dollar to get it. Sounds like how the KTM EXC's are selling in California. That converts to around $9,100 US which is what folks are paying for the '07 KTM 525 EXC in CA. I'm sure glad the demand is not that high here in the east. I did have to shop around a little bit but I was fortunate to get over $900 less than MSRP for my 450, and no bogus fees like setup, delivery, etc.
I think the key is that it is street legal. This goes for the KTM EXC, and the KLX450R (in Canada & Australia). If the KLX450R was street legal here in the US, I'm sure it would be selling just as well down here "south of the border".

I just got home from picking my wifes KLX250. The dealer said that they got a email from Kawasaki stateing that the bikes are selling out fast at list price. They are recomending dealers sell for MSRP or above. Thats $8,999.99 plus shipping and set up < $299 > and tax at 15%. That makes you new KLX450R $10692.70 CDN or more.
