Default klx 250 upgrade advice

Just after some general advice on what I should do with my KLX 250. I bought it second hand and it came with a complete seperate 300 bore kit that is still in its boxes. I find theacceleration a litlle on the conservative side. I am reading about after market carbs but dont know what will give me good performance with out a huge price tag.

Keeping in mind that I am a new rider but want extrapower for when im in the sand. Could any one help me with some pratical advice on upgrading my bike.

Thank you

Does it have any mods? An exhaust is a good place to start.... if you wanna get alot of kick, send that 300 kit away to make it a 331 or 340. rejet carb, change gearing.... thats the basic stuff thats not too expensive.... there is a ton of stuff you can do to this bike. remember its a 250, its not gonna have a ton of power...

Yeah it does have an after market exhaust. Just the muffler not the whole pipe.

I was thinking about a reboreon the300 cylinder sleeve. WillI have to do anything to the head? Its just piston rings and appropriate gaskets right?

Cheers

Its just the cylinder, pison, and rings, head and everything else is the same... you can just have the 300 bored to 331 or have it sleeved.... What exhaust is on it?

Its got a Supercat Exhaust made in Australia The guy who i bought the bike from from said it came off his friends motocross bike. I cant find any info on it other this brand being put on cars. Who knows? It sounds sweet though and definately lighter than the stock muffler.

Now before you go and install a big bore kit, consider this. A 13 tooth front sprocket will help...even be it a little. Then bump the rear up to a 45 tooth, that will help a little more and at a pretty low cost, although you will have to buy a new chain. And since the exhaust should be replaced as soon as possible anyway, jetting will compliment that as well. Chuck the air box lid in the box of no longer needed parts and you're in business.
