Default Hard Starting

Hi All,

My KLX is starting good now.

I found that the Starter Jet was plugged solid. I drilled it out to 0.0180" and it starts right up with the choke on of course.

A special thanks to "TNC" for the help.

Safe and good riding to all,
Roy

if anyone is still watching this would it be advised to drill out my starter jet more then 0.018" if i have the problem and a 351 kit? i would think the 350 would need a bigger choke then a 250 right?

I would stick with the .018. I have mine drilled and run the 351, works fine.

I had an old Honda xl600 kick start only and it was cold natured as heck, turn on the gas lay it on it's side for 15-20 seconds and it would fire up even in cold weather. It caused it to flood just a little bit and that was all it needed.

Default Finally cured my cold start problem

Well I went through all the cold start threads last year when I first got my KLX and thought I had it licked by upping the float level. But it didn't last long before I was back to draining the carb bowl after the bike had stood for a while.
The bike was popping on the overrun, so to cure this I increased the pilot jet from 35 to 38 this cured my exhaust popping and as if by magic IT STARTS EVERYTIME hot or stone cold or after a weeks layup.
I haven't drilled the starter jet.

With a 40 pilot I had the fuel air screw out 1.25-1.5 turns out. This is at sea level. Starting wasn't a problem even without drilling the starter jet. Only ran premium 91 octane, 2 gallon tank only .40 cents more.

Never did the grounding procedure either and no surging ever.
