Hi,

I just replaced my idler gear as well as the kick starter gear. I have put it all back together as the factory manual says, but my kick starter does not spring back! Doesn't really say anywhere to tension the spring but simply install. Can anyone help. My ride is a 2000 KLX300. Thanks

There is another install post that talks about exactly what your dealing with but I couldn't find it.

 

lol....that's it

pull out the kickstart assembly.

1 Now start to slide it back in and stick the spring into the case.

2 Now rotate the shaft to create tension in the spring .... about a 3/4 turn was good for me

3 shove the assembly all the way in.

4 Have a beer you deserve it

Edit Just a note .... I may have spun the spring to create tension and shoved in the kicker and spring together .... can't remember which.....but it was clear which way to do it ... when ya got it in front of ya.

Oh ..... if the kickstarter goes "click...click....click etc" when you start the bike and move the kicker you did not put in enough tension.....you got it...I did the same thing....but noone to ask for help.
