kickstand mod w/pics
Before
After
It gives a lot more clearance for offroad. Just grind some off of the back of the kickstand where it hits the up stop. The spring seems to have more than enough tension to it with this mod. I'm not going to take the credit for it though, thanks to thrillbilly for showing me the way.

Looks like a sensible mod, I havn't hung the stand on anything yet. I will do it though, it looks trick.
Do any of you guys add length to your stands? mine needs a block of wood under it and in quite a few photos I have seen, it is the same.
I want to paint my rims now, it is just a mission to re-spoke.

I never really had it hung up on anything that I know of either, but looking at all the nicks and scrapes on the bottom of my kickstand it was defenitly hitting a lot of stuff that I never realized. Your right though, if nothing else it does give it a trick look.

Did mine but took off alot more. The more you take the more it tucks in. I also put a shorter spring to take out the slack. I like the rims too.

did my kickstand today. couldn't find a shorter spring so i had to cut the nub off the stand and had a friend reweld it lower to tighten the spring some. thanks for the heads up on that.....

I lost my spring on my last ride.
Don't exactly know what happened I just heard it loose, looked down, and the spring was gone.
I never found it so I don't know if it broke or was knocked off.
I didn't feel anything hit the stand or spring.

Looking at it further on an 09 klx250s the kickstand comes close to the swingarm when the bike is on a stand. The spring mount stud is too long, needs to be shortened.
Also the swingarm as it moves thru its travel arc- will come in contact if tucked to high. Check the angle on the kickstand mount tab on the frame. Check when behind the bike.
Also pinched the spring ends so it would not fall off the mount studs.
Still a sano mod.
