Default Keep your distance

Never tailgate and stay alert when riding. I was lucky as hell this morning on my way to work. Cruising at 60mph (indicated) in left lane about 3 car lengths behind a pickup truck. In front of the truck was a minivan. Minivan decides to turn left and gets over into left turn lane. Minivan decides thats not where they want to turn and quickly turns right back into the left lane and cuts off the truck. They both slam their brakes. With traffic in the next lane over there's no room to maneuver around those 2 so I slammed my brakes locking the rear. I'm trying to slow down to avoid slamming into someone and have to modulate both front and rear brakes to keep from locking up. I hear both tires howling on and off so I know I'm right at the traction limit.

I was surprised at the lack of traction especially in the front. I recently installed K761 tires which have been excellent on the streets so I guessing the lack of braking traction is due to the small contact patch on such a small bike.

Anyways, just as I was quickly coming up on the van the truck hit the gas and speed off giving me room to swerve around the minivan.

My heart was pumping! No need for coffee this morning after that. Just remember to keep your distance cause you never know when some dumbass will ruin your day.

Work is funny like that....

Most people and Im 1...I never take the scenic view....Im always in a hurry to get there to be there 20 minutes early....Oh and have to be home fast as well....Dunno why....Just seems like what most people do......Glad your safe and all went well during your panic stop

Um not saying you were in a hurry....Just people in general...
