KDX200 restoration
Thanks for the replies guys, IDRIDR I heard about the OEM 220 piston not good. Thanks for the info on the headlight you have certainly done some work on yours. Yeah I need new chains and sprockets, grips, all the bearings, seat foam and cover etc etc. These bikes get expensive.
Thanks. Currently there are 5 Kawasaki's and 1 Yamaha here and I'm selling the Yamaha.

Photos from the blaster (I also got him to paint it). Used Valspar TB540 supposed to be the ducks guts. It's an industrial paint that should last a long time it's supposed to be super tough stuff. Hope so it's bloody dear enough

Very nice! Great thread! I've just begun stripping my new-to-me 1997 KLX300. She's going down to the frame same as you've done, and the frame will be refinished from the original purple to Kawasaki green.
It's amazing how similar the KDX frame is to the KLX. I'll have to take the laptop out the garage and check your pic's vs. my KLX frame. Very, very similar.
Does anyone know - did the KDX use the same KX frame in 1999?
Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see her all back together!!

Again similar but not the same, some of the KDX guys use KX frames but they have to modify engine mounts etc.
Glad to see I'm not the only person restoring a 90's Kawasaki dirt bike. I'm in the garage as I type stripping her down to the frame so it can go off to powdercoat. Last night I ordered all new bearings for the entire bike. As similar looking as all dirtbikes are (especially to the casual non-enthusiast observer) These Kawasaki's have always been a fantastic looking bike to me. Well worth restoring and preserving.
