Even with some moderate off-roading, the K&N is just fine.

Otherwise check out TwinAir and Uni filters.

Never seen GPR exhaust?

Dusty conditions, foam filter. That's why you don't see K&N on many, if any, motocrossers, but lots of roadracers and drag racers. Those that do use K&N will have the foam filter sock - whatever they call it - on any K&N. Kind of says it all - they use foam over their own filters when it's dusty.

+1 on foam. Ran UNI on my KLX and it was great. K&N isn't even an option (not that I'd go with it anyway) on my KTM.

Have to agree about K&N and dust. I'm fine in the winter but whenever I pull the filter in the dry season, there's a film of fine dust on the anti backfire screen even when I keep the filter oiled. I'd rather run the foam but it's so restrictive and the little KLX needs all the help it can get.
