Just picked up my KLX.......jetting question
Hello all,
I did a lot of looking for just the right bike and went with the KLX 250. So far, I love it. Thanks already for all the great info on this bike. I have the carb parts on order, but I have to ask, is it really necessary to change the pilot jet as well as the main jet and needle?
And what exactly does the pilot jet do any way? I'm going to replace the snorkel with the one that you guys have recommended also.
Thanks in advance,
Brian

Hi Brian the Piolet jet controls your idle fuel and the fuel mixture screw kinda works in all throttle positions. The needle controls flow from idle to wide open that is why different tapers and clip levels gives you a wide adj range. The main jet controls wide open throttle. But the needle and main work together in most throttle positions . I hope this helps.
Oh just for some extra info if the mixture screw is in the back of the carb it controls air flow and if it is in the front of the carb it controls Fuel most carbs have one or the other
