Tremor38: That is some of the stuff I read too but didn't want to put a damper on his new mod but I am glad you followed up so he understands there are potential issues under certain cicumstances.
Hmm...anyway, I think the problems with the Idle Gear are real, but they are based in regular usage of the kickstarter.
I looked for "Stroker" on the web and can't find it.
Scary stuff if the Idle gear breaks.

I'm not convinced there is a difference between Part #12044-1365 and12044-1487.

And .... all I did was put on a second "start" button (in case the hanging-thingy-start-button ever broke on me out in the boonies!!), ...and I was proud of my work!

Five Star write up! It's funny, when I went to pick up my KLX on the day I bought it I was watching the mechanics installing the battery - my god it took them an hour just to get the plastic cover back on the bike (they were pretty clueless). They then asked me if I wanted them to install the kick starter, after watching them in "action" I said - PASS!
It would be nice to have but hey, it's always about the money!

I just feel a bit deflated thinking that I might have put something in my KLX that may cause harm later.
I think the risk is *very* low, since I'll only use the KickStarter in emergencies.
The KickStarter works and is pretty cool to have, since I will use the KLX as a trail bike primarily.

Wow .... you own & ride multiple dual sports and you wrench on them too! Great Write Up!!! ...... I luv'd all the Gotcha's
You need to write all the mod threads... lol....mine areboring and have less details
Edit: When are you going to big bore that bike? ..... It'd be great to have an updated version of the NoBrakes install.....with commentary & gotcha's
