Is the 250 safe to take on the highway?

i have had mine on a short ride up the interstate, going about 70, kept up with traffic, but the wind off of the big 18 wheelers gets kinda scary, i actually passed a couple harly riders, they gave me a funny look, and with a dirt bike helmet your head kinda gets tossed around....

I do it just about every day (rainy days car) and have been for 2 and a half months. 60 miles round trip between house and two jobs and average between 65 and 75 mph.

It does fine on the freeway, and is great downtown where the traffic really sux.

What kinda RPMs does the 250 spin on the highway anyway? Is it a little screamer?

I see a lot of tennis shoes and sleeveless shirts[&:]

At least they are wearing full face helmets unlike some other group of riders, and I'm sure these "squids" can ride a lot better as well. :D

With the stock sprocket, indicated 75 mph is about 7000 rpm. However, the speedo is optimistic on these bikes and someone posted that at 7000 rpm, the bike is actually going closer to 70 mph. I wouldn't really call that a screamer.

Yea before I had a chance to switch the back to a 45 tooth I was at 6000 rpm's in 6th gear doing 60. Now its more like 6500 at 60.

what deej said on the rpm's.

I found that it was more of me just getting used to riding on the freeway.

Now its no big deal. Will be hitting the freeway in about a half hour and going home.
