Actually, Marty, this reminds me of a question I have been having. I always receive a message when a new thread is started. I see in my profile options that I can choose either this option or one that sends me an email anytime a thread is started or added to. I chose the "started only" option to limit emails, but I do not see any way to stop all emails unless I unsubscribe to the forum completely. I like to be subscribed to the forum because it makes it easier to navigate to the forum after view other parts of the kawasakiforums.com site.

Am I missing something?

I don't subscribe to any forums or subforums but rather just use the "Today's Posts" link - upper right hand corner of any page and that shows all the newest posts. You can enter any forum from there by clicking on its name in the 2nd or 3rd column or view any thread by clicking on the thread name.
