These are not your local authorities! This is a federal offense!!! No need to give your address. They know who you are and where you live. Expect a visit shortly.

They have outsourced all federal offences to Donald Rumsfields numbered corporation. It's just easier that way. You do get a free plane ride to your choice of torture states and a wet face cloth with your name on it.

How do you know that the bike was correctly jetted for Altitude, Humidity, and air temp. These three things effect how the bike runs.
2009 KLx250s no mods gets approx 45 miles per gallon of gas with a 1.3 gallon tank thats 58.5miles per tank. how many non hybrid, non-fuel injected cars can do that?
I had a 93' DR350 that got almost the same mpg with a 5 gallon tank, of course a single cylinder burns less fuel than an inline 4,6 V-Twin, v8, V10, V12. Number of cylinders + amount of reciprocating mass + number of parts moving = more fuel needed to move a certain distance. Also the weight of the chassis and driver also effect the equation.
In all I would say.

Mythbusters are hacks, and whacks... They attempt to give the illusion that they are setting up proper (non-biased) experiments, but they are always flawed to give the results they want... especially on environmental issues.

Sounds like someone is on their side... "2009 KLx250s no mods gets approx 45 miles per gallon of gas ". Really??? I kept track of my mileage over several tanks of gas before I modded my bike. My stock '09 KLX250S was consistently getting 65-70 MPG.

haha... Sadly that's about what I get with my 351 and the way I ride it. I hit reserve at 60 miles every time.

I checked mine for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Filled it up, rode 99.1 miles according to my odometer, mixture of pavement and gravel, back to the same gas station and re-filled to the same exact point in the tank.

1.3 gallons used, so that is 76.1 MPG, but then factor in that my odometer is off by 10%, and it really is only 68.5 MPG.

Still way better than 45 MPG...

I'm not sure about classifying them as total hacks, but I agree that I think I detect an environmental bent in some of their findings. The 45 mpg is a ridiculous mileage to slap on a KLX under anything found in the real world. Even my KLX with a 300 jug, full dynojet, and full Muzzy exhaust, the worst I ever got was 47 mpg...that tank with a horrible 14 mile stretch of sand wash that had me wringing throttle like the Boston Strangler to stay on top. Since I've owned this bike I've had a few highs of 65 mpg even in rougher 2-track where you were cruising more than really working the bike...and with knobbies and 14/47 gearing to boot. Maybe the Myth guys should have had a followup story of, "How to Know When There's a Hole in Your Fuel Tank".
