Installing alarm
hey I got a pretty nice alarm called spy5000m
one feature is ignition disable
now the instructions to wire that up are very basic
and may be universal not really sure
even though im an electrician, and have the service manual I have not yet looked into which wires would even control this
or yet have checked which wires on the alarm really disconnect the ignition
I do have it connected just as a basic alarm, you move or bump the bike the alarm goes off
But I think it would be wise to cut off the ignition
Just wondering if its a simple wire I cut and run into this alarm
you know just pick a wire coming off the key and cut it
see if bike starts, then just figure out which set of wires on the alarm open when armed, and close when disarmed
and hoping it can be spliced under the seat where the alarm is shoved into, so I dont have to run wires up to the front and battle taking all that apart
Once I get time I will study the wiring diagram just busy now
here is the only schematic they provide

ok made some progress
looked in the book shows 2 wires for the key ignition

from the cryptic schematic that comes with the alarm it looks like the blue is the auto start
the pink and gray must do the cdi and ignition
and the brown im not sure
but testing with a meter only the gray and pink are constantly closed
all the time
Only if I hit the auto start button they momentarily open for a split second, then close again
I was hoping there would be a set of wires open when alarmed
and closed when disarmed then I could easily just connect the ignition or something to them
but its not that way

I did find out more info on the alarm from a ninja forum
of course that bike is wired differently
but from what they said, you find your ignition fuse
which I have under my seat
take out the fuse
you take the brown and pink, put into one side of fuse
take the gray and put on the other side
thats it
but my bike still starts, I even swapped the positions
still starts
and for some reason the bike will start with the fuse out!!!???!!!
my bike only has 3 fuses I can see under the seat
IGN, FAN, and the one on the starter relay thats a main for the engine biek
and I was able to use the blue wire from the alarm to one of the wires on the starter relay
and it would spin over the engine for about 3 seconds each time
but I have no use for that, but good to see at least that could work
still stumped on how my bike runs with the IGN fuse missing
unless IGN means something else
of course that bike is wired differently

Personally I would not hack into the wiring harness to make the ignition disconnect work. For a determined thief who is not deterred by the alarm noise it would be too easy to bypass the disconnect or throw the bike in a truck or trailer. My $.02.

just figured if they somehow jammed something into the ignition to start it, the alarm armed would prevent it from starting
also the alarm can be armed in silent mode
only the lights would flash if set off, and ignition disabled if I could ever figure how to install
its too easy to accidentally set it in silent mode
can anyone answer why when I take out the IGN fuse my bike still starts and runs?

I'm looking at the 2009 manual, pg 2-39 refers to: Main Fuse 20 A and Lighting Fuse 10 A. Page 16-4 item 20 "Fuse 10 A, Spare Fuse 10 A" and item 21 "Starter Relay, Main Fuse 20 A."
Then, on page 16-15 wiring diagram in the upper right in the Fuse Box is a 10 A Ignition Fuse and a 10 A Radiator Fan Fuse. If I'm reading the diagram correctly, the "Ignition Fuse" here appears to actually be the lighting fuse. What color are the wires? The manual indicates R and BR for the lighting fuse, and W for the main fuse. (Red, BRown, White).
One more thing...page 16-15 is the non AU model, with Fuse 1 labeled "Ignition Fuse." Page 16-17 is the AU model, with Fuse 1 labeled "Lighting System Fuse." Both have Red and BRown wires. I think the label "Ignition" on Page 16-15 (and on your bike) is a bit confusing. Also, I'm confused that page 16-4 lists a spare fuse and no radiator fan fuse, which conflicts with page 16-15 listing a fan fuse.
Service manuals are not always correct BTW.

no the main fuse hidden on the starter relay kills the entire bike
because its the main
then IGN fuse can be removed and everything still works
I think it was brown and red wire,small gauge
10 amp
only other fuse was the fan

Are you saying you remove the 20-amp main fuse and the bike still starts and runs with everything working? Are you sure that's not a spare fuse in a holder or the lighting fuse?

Okay, from what I can tell the IGN fuse there is actually one or more lights turned on when the ignition is on. It doesn't control the bike's ignition.
If you look at pg 16-55 diagram (the one you posted above), the circuit fuse is the Main 20 A fuse, not the IGN 10 A fuse. I think the Main 20 A fuse is the one you want.

ok from what I saw on another site using the IGN fuse
you take out the fuse dont use it anymore
install the alarm wires on each side where the fuse would of went
which means if I did the same on my main fuse then each time the bike is armed I will loose my clock,and trip odometer
because pulling the main cuts everything off
the alarm is still directly on the battery so that would stay running
So I guess im going to give up on using the alarm as an ignition cutoff
maybe its meant for fuel injected bikes where you have many fuses to choose from
but the alarm still works great as a noise maker, and my only distance test with the pager remote has worked 4 houses away with the bike deep in the garage
so the range is really good
