Now that I think back so long ago, when I changed mine I think I got the ratchet up and kicked it straight down with my right foot and it broke loose. Sometimes you have to just hit it. How come everything I type sounds dirty this morning? You guys are a bad influence on me.[8D]

 

$39 Impact driver from Harbour Freight mine was loose with just two burps on the trigger, I did this after 3/4 of and hour with ratchet breaker bar with my son on the seat in sixth gear with both brakes on and still not getting it off.

 

You could try giving the nut a couple love taps with a hammer. I find this works particularily well for rusted on nuts etc.

 

sound like it was mostly user error [8D]

4' breaker bar = hella tight nut now.

 

HI, I have the same honda xlr sproket for my klx 250, there are no spacers with the packet.....? when you put it one the chain rubs a little ont he casing...? what sort of spacer are we looking at to bbe made..?

HI, I changed my front sproket to the moose part #1212-0198 13t but the dam thing would not go on (shoulder facing in) So I had to put a washer on first and then the smooth side of the sproket....? whats that all about..?

I don't understand why you would have to put a washer on before the sprocket...nothing should preent the sprocket from going on if it is the correct one...do you have a digital camera and can post a couple of pics? I would like to help, but just don't understand what is going on.

I believe the sprocket should go on (shoulder side in), followed by the washer (the one that you bend flat along one side of the nut to keep the nut from loosening) and finally the nut.

I am sure someone near you could help you out before you damage something.

 

Both KawiKathy and myself have installed the Moose (part #1212-0198) 13T sprocket with no additional washer just the one the KLX came with just like mudjunkie says - that's all you need, just make sure you have it mounted right.

 

You guys and gal inspired me to get off my but and put my 13t sprocket on. First tried the breaker bar with the wife on the brake. (waste of time) Then broke out the impact and gave that a shot. At first it wouldn't budge. Then I turn the air up to 135 psi three burps of the rattel gun an off it came. I installed the sproket shoulder side first then the washer. The washer barely engaged on the splines but it seems to be holding fine. Then I took the bike off the stand called the wife back into the garge to stand on the brake and tighened it down as much as I could with the breaker bar. The back wheel would not hold so I guess that it is tight enuf. Now all that I need I some warmer weather to try it out.
