My bike has the Seat Concept kit and had no fit problem with the tank and seat area. Not sure how much of a change KAWA did between the 09's and 10's. The fit aournd the shrouds on my '10 wasn't perfect but soon forgotten. The extra fuel does gives you that piece of mind while out on those long treks...

I got an email back from Chuck at IMS regarding the EFI 09- tank.

>Hi Joe,

An EFI tank for your KLX is in the works. I actually started on it late last year but then I had to set it a side for some other projects. The only thing that is stopping me is not enough time and too much to do. I don’t know exactly when it will be available but for sure this Spring.

Thanks,
Chuck<

Finally got to test the tank on my KLX. Rode Death Valley last weekend, put 340 miles on in 2 days. Day one I purposely ran the bike out of gas to find out what the range was.

143 to reserve, 163 to completely out.

This is a 09 with Dynojet kit, FMF pipe, snorkel removed, 14 tooth sprocket. That's 54 MPG. I carry a Rotopax container on the back which gives me 216 miles. That's half dirt, half slab, no dirt may be slightly better.

Works great for me, without this tank I would be on the KLR 650.

I think the issue is specific to the Corbin saddle. The Seat Concepts mounts on the stock pan which evidently fits well with the tank. Corbin uses their own pan, it's a really heavy resin/fiberglass casting and the bottom is shaped a bit differently. It worked ok with the stock KLX tank but it mounts up with a big gap between the IMS tank unless the little rubber block is shortened a bit.

Here's a link to another forum with a description and pics: IMS tank for klx250S 2009 - Two Wheel Females

Happy with the install and no leaks but Corbin owners should be aware.

Default IMS Tank

Down here in NZ the IMS tank sells @ $480 so I bought this 4 litre aux for $280 with all the plumbing. It's made specifically for Kawasaki dirtbikes by Nomad Tanks Australia. I'm chuffed.

After seeing the pictures of fatigued sub frames from carrying extra weight on the other site, I'd be keeping a watchful eye on the welds in that area when running that extra tank in whooped out terrain.

I like the design of it, it looks like a great way to carry extra fuel.

It's great. Came with all the bits including it's own tap and filter so it is plumbed into the main fuel line like another reserve. I'm sure that fatigue is possible but it's only four litres and I use it first, generally on my way to the riding spot. http://www.nomadtanks.com.au/Tanks.php
