Default I'm stupid.

So while I finished doing my mods (bars, vortex throttle, rad guards) I was bolting the flanges back on. Well I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and picked up a longer screw for the flange. It drilled right into the tank, and started leaking. I put a full sized hole in it. It doesnt really leak with the screw in it but i'm not going to chance it and ride.

Can these be fixed or am I going to have to upgrade my tank?

Doh!

I've been worried about doing the same thing! I'd say its worth looking into getting a stock tank from someone who has gone Clarke or IMS, or just picking up one yourself.

You should drain it and then try some JB-Weld. Worked for me on a oil pan with a small hole in it.

JB weld eh...hmmm. Might have to try.

I'm hesitant on going clarke since I've heard so many leak stories and fitment problems...although a bigger tank would be nice.

Anyone running the clarke with the unibiker rad guards?

That is really a ****ty deal, I feel bad for you.
I made a successful repair with JB Weld on a Mercruiser exhaust manifold that cracked in the winter 14 years ago and it still doesn't leak to this day, on the other hand I tried to repair a small crack in my wife’s Nissan Maxima fuel tank without much luck, probably due to the size and flexibility of the tank.
If it were my tank I would sure give JB Weld a try, you have little to lose.

A small screw with a rubber washer might work.

I really hate to be the spoiler here but I'm gonna do it. I wouldn't use JB weld for anything! I wouldn't even feed it to the neighbors cat! And I hate that cat![:@]
I know that there are all kinds of stories about how it really works. But I'm on the other side of that! I have had countless pieces brought to me to repair, or weld up, that has previously had JB weld as a fix. It absolutely ruins the parent matierial for fixing correctly. Makes my work twice as hard.
Fix that tank the right way! patch the hole and go back to rideing. If you want to ship it out to me, I'll fix it and guarentee it not to leak!

Ha ha, sorry I had to laugh. Reminds me of when I accidentally poked a hole in my radiator with the point of my knight as I cut off the zip-ties holding my cam chain onto the sprocket as I neared completion of my first big bore upgrade. Yeah, that sucked. [:@]

JB-Weld did the trick for me, though. But then again, coolant is not gasoline. At any rate, I was back up and running in the time it takes it to dry which is actually a pretty long time. [:@][:@]

Good luck!
