Hey there nice to meet you!! I'm from Australia and support all those poeple serving their countires for the greater cause. I think you will enjoy the KLX because its such a great bike inmany ways. I have kept mine stock (except for the snorkel off the airbox) and can get 240kms per tank which in your metric system about 145 to 150 miles. I use my KLX 250 every day to ride to work and because I work split shifts that means I get to go home for lunch which also means I'm on the bike 4 times a day to and from work!! Hail or shine I'm on the bike and so far after nearly 4000 kms / 2485 miles she purrs like a kitten. The only gripe I have about the KLX is the 6th gear and hope they have rectified this with the 2009 model. Have a safe trip home and take care.
