Default Im new to this forum

hello everyone im new to this forum and i have a few questions. i just bought a 2007 klx250s and was wondering how much noise you get from the motor.

im not talking about exhaust noise. i here clatter and what i think sounds like spark knock when the motor is bogged down and just getting into the throttle. i have read alot of threads on here and have found nothing on this subject. the bike is stock but i plan on changing the exhaust and re-jetting the carb.

New bike needs new oil,new oilfilter, new airfilter, new sparkplug.
Then see if it makes the noise.

miles???? you might need the valves checked too. what rpm range are you talking about when you say "just getting into the throttle"?

I asked the same question when I got my '07. At the time everyone said it was normal. It still sounds the same and I have no problems and have 3000 miles.

My 09 does that too with about 900 on the clock, went back to the dealer about it just so if there is a problem it is documented, they said it was the nature of the beast.

I wouldn't worry about it. The valves are good for 7'500 miles for adjustment. It would be a freak thing to have any problems. Try searching for engine noise in advanced search under the klx250 subheader. Many posts there about how normal it is. My search seems broke or else I'd find the link for you. Post a sound clip and we'll all listen to it for you to make sure.

Mine did it almost right away....

Its a tad better with 15/50 oil....I dont care for the thinner weight oil.....Ive also been meaning to check the bolts on the header to cylinder case for a slight leak...Im guessin theres and 1/8 turn there when I remember to check it...Factory probably torques them cold.....
