I saw one at the same place I bought my current bike. I sat on it, it feels good. I'm going to get one next year perhaps.

Will you should ditch the stock handguards, and that strap on the seat. What is it even there for?

I didn't see it on the list Mav, that's unreal if they do offer that. I would've probably bought it if they had it here, but I'm glad they didn't, the 250 is more in my league.

Yeah the 450 is definetly dual sported here in AUS, the australian kawasaki website doesn't show it... The bikes go to a place here in australia where they get kitted out with all the ADR compliant stuff to make em legal then the dealer gets them delivered to the show room.

Heres a really stupid question. Is it not enough to get a, say, KLX450 and put the plate, turn signals, tires, and spedo on it (assuming it has a headlight and tail light) and call it done? I'm guessing it has to go through inspections and shat?

Not in the U.S. it's not. Each state has their own rules about it, ranging from being easy like what you said above to being hard as in not a snowball's chance in hell no matter what you do to it. Seems like most states are heading toward the latter. That's why bikes like the KTM EXC's and Husqvarna TE's are so intriguing here, because they are performance enduro bikes that are 50 state U.S. street legal off the floor.

But I think the rest of the world is far more leniant (and reasonable). KLX450R is street legal in Canada, for instance. But not just across the border to the south.

Interesting, is that just because of the emissions standards? Also I wonder if a guy wanted to drive across the boarder with one would have any trouble? Or if he brought one down with his truck, and drove around his condo in whitefish MT would catch flack too?
