I think (no I know) I overoiled my air filter.........
Everytime my bike sits after some aggressive jumping/wheelying and then road riding I put it back in the garage. After sometime, it will get a small puddle of oil which is coming from the airbox drain hose. My question is two-fold: do you think putting too much oil on the filter will cut power and also do you think it may be damaging to the bike overall somehow? I guess I just got aggressive on the aerosol filter oil when I installed my Uni-filter. thanks, Travis

Yes, in my experience the amount of oil on the filter has a significant affect on air intake/performance.
A dry filter versus a wet filter have very different resistance to air flow.
Also, if there is enough oil to drip down into the airbox, it could potentially be dripping into the carb too (though less likely).
The backfire screen would help to stop it, somewhat...

That's why they put the tube drain at the bottom. All bikes have them and you just check it and clean it out once in a while. When I oil my filter, I squeeze all of the oil I can out, then I go one step farther, by taking paper towels and wrapping the filter up and squeezing even more out, Too much oil will result in not enough air.
