Default I haven't rode since Sept 3rd!! Killin me!

On Labor day I decided to do a Superman straight into a tree. Busted my thumb real good again, tore a tendon, surgery, all that good stuff.. Because of that, my bike has been collecting dust for five months!!!! Bah!!! I told myself I'd stay off till Spring to get extra heal time.. Plus I have a whole bunch of parts to go on the bike, I just have to get off my *** and do it!!

How I have been keeping myself sane - Flying RC airplanes, helis, and quad rotors!! Man.. This stuff is almost as addictive! I've been flying for about 20 years on and off, and just picked back up full swing.

I have my new tool for some sick Motocross / dirt bike riding footage... Behold, the camo quad!!!!

Yes, that's a video cam up front with a 5.8ghz downlink to those goggles! hahaha.. I can sit on my back deck and putz around the neighborhood.. I hang the GoPro underneath and record HD video at the same time.. This spring I will be bringing this to our secret track in the woods, and hopefully get some sick nasty aerial riding video.

Quad also has GPS for fail safes, return to home function, a barometer for auto-landing, and altitude hold... It's sick!!!

This is my new obsession right here!! hahahaa

What has everyone else been up to? Riding? I can't wait to twist the throttle again!!! I miss you guys!! hahaha

I've been dreaming of a RC helicopter that could film me, while hovering somewhere over my signal. Well, more of an autonomous thing, that I could choose a spot where it would be in relation to where I am, otherwise it doesn't require input from me.
Soon enough I guess.
Can't wait to see your footage! That should be pretty cool. And marketable, if one were good, I should think. Ah the possibilities. Technology is cool.
So your goggles have a heads up display? Wow...
Hope the thumb is getting better.
Heal now and ride better later.

This quad will do just that!!! I can stick it in a spot in the sky, hit a button, and altitude hold/GPS will keep it in a six foot square, at the exact altitude I set it at..

So I can take it up 20ft, point it where I want, then put the transmitter down, ride for 10-15 minutes while it's recording, then when the batteries get low, it'll auto-land and set down nice and easy..

It's pretty sick!!!!! We're living in the future!! haha

That's super cool.
I want it to follow in front of me, or over my shoulder, or on the side, tracking my "signal" at a specified height and distance.
Would like to try and "teach" one using a GPS route.
Is it possible to buy one you can program like that? I guess that's moving towards drone technology and $$$$.

O_O wow, does it fly across the country?! That thing is cool! Glad you found something interesting to do while you heal up, not riding for 5 months, good god...

Dude, that is awesome. I've been wanting to create my own drone for sometime. I think it would be a kick in the pants!

Maximus - this one will not follow pre-programmed way points.. The flight controller won't do that. The GPS is used for spot hovering, and for return to home function. Every time I power it up, that spot becomes "home". If I get lost flying, or if I lose signal, I hit a button and it'll jump to pre-determined altitude and beeline home. It's pretty sick stuff.

Here's a teaser vid - this one from one of my helis - A Mikado Logo 400 with the GoPro.

Best in full screen/HD if your computer has the guts

Cool video! What a way to capture video of a downhill MTB race. A bit more of a tele lens would be nice.

You must have quite a bit of coin tied up in that hobby.
