Keeping in mind your gps may not be too accurate ether. Horizontal speed readouts are vastly affected by where the satellites are located overhead, atmospheric conditions, and how lenient the US military is feeling that day...

 

I know that it is darn near 100% accurate when pairing it against my truck's speedo.

When I had my stock tires, it matched. When I went w/ larger tires, it reads a tad faster than the speedo.

I'm pretty sure it'll get me within 1/2 MPH.

 

Hmm. I blame the stratosphere. Must be thinner here or something. I once used mine in my car, and claimed I was doing about 140kph... while my car claimed 110.

 

For some odd reason, I don't think y'all satelite selection is as good as mine.

I use another unit on my boat and it has an accuracy of 3'. We use WAAS compatible units here; very accurate in almost all conditions.

 

Hmm. Dam. Ah well, suppose there has to be at least one reason to live in the US :P

I'll double check too. I remember thinking "holy crap, I'm only going 55!!!??"

It's definitely more than a 5mph difference when you are on the highway.

 

I'd venture to say consumer grade GPS are more accurate than any regular consumer car speedometer and certainly more than our $4800 dirt bike speedometer.

Mine is WAY off at highway speeds. I consider over 5mph to be way off.
