Default how to set up the rear shock the right way?

hello,
i'm trying to adjust my bike the right way for me and and i vcant understand how to adjyst the rear spring.
i fell that when im setting on the bike it comes down way more then it should. i tired reading in the bike manual and found this page:


cant somone exlpain to me in simple words how i need to set it up? what is the KLX250T/W? is it another type of the bike?or does it have somthing to do with the spring?

the KLX250T is the "S" and the KLX250W is the "SF" they do have different springs though.

What year and how much do you weigh? If over 160 you might need a new stiffer spring.
for a 2009+ "S" correct sag is around 3". or 1/3 the total travel.

Here it is...the whole ball of wax from Bruce's Suspension setup. Some other fine forum member first alerted me to this site, so I can't take credit. It's as good a site as I've seen, as it also gives a bit of a primer about what's really going on while you're twisting dials and preload collars.

Bookmark it while you can. Last time I talked with Bruce he wasn't doing very well....doubt he'll be working again.

btw - Bruce gives credit for this writeup to his wife as she turned it from pure technical mumbo-jumbo into real-people words.
