...about a month shy of 58 and wishing I were somewhere between 25 and 45! The joints and muscles have painful ways of getting back at the brain for foolish behavior!
Live Raleigh, NC and keep the bikes in Snow Camp, NC at the farm.
just picked up a "new" project bike for the winter, 1979 Yamaha RD400 Daytona Special...talking about foolish behavior!

Those bikes are classics and it warms the heart to see them being restored and hopefully ridden.
I have my own resto project waiting in the winds but I'm time poor at the moment so it may be a year or so away.

Thanks for the encouraging words Neil. I'll try to keep the forum crew updated once in a while. BTW, I also have a 1971 Kawasaki F7 Enduro (175cc) I'm planning to restore back to the condition it was in when I motoX'd it...it was my first real motorcycle. I bought a new Yamaha Daytona back in '79 and had it for a few years until the kids came along...then it had to go! I've kicked myself alot for sellling it over the years.

Speaking of old bikes, I rode a '76 Yamaha TT500 last weekend in the dirt. That was educational to say the least. That old bike could really go! And you sure wouldn't complain about needing a steering damper - it almost took an act of congress to get that beast to turn. But you wouldn't want to do anything that taxed the suspension too much, things could go pear shaped real quick. It was definitely fun, though, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I know what you mean.
I still kick myself for selling my 1980 GS1000ST.
So I bought this.
And when I can clear some space and find some time try and turn it into this.
Good luck with your RD and do keep us posted.

51 from north western south carolina. I guess only 2 of us from the great state of SC so far. One on the coast and one on the other side of the state up in the mountains. Love my KLX. It sure beats the old '80 KDX and the '74 CZ that I still have in Mom's basement. Just wish I didn't have to get ready to do all the mods to make it kick A$$ like the KDX.
