If your bike runs well with the settings you have, I wouldn't worry about it. Tune for acceleration and don't worry about tuning for deceleration unless the popping is excessive.

 

Acceleration seems good, but not having a bike that is completly dialed in to,back to back compare it to I don't know how it feels. I may go back in and put the 138 in but in I know in a couple of weeks it will be in the 80's with humidity, so maybe I will leave it go.

 

as i said earlier in the thread, mine pops some on decel but the bike rips in all areas under 10K (dieing at 10k is the norm ive heard).
i have read somewhere that people that tune bikes shoot for a little popping on decel. if the bike pulls strong in all areas i wouldnt sweat it much.

edit: as an afterthought my bike was jet'd on a dyno for the closest poss setup to perfect with the air/gas mix... and it popped on decel......

 

have you pulled your plug to see what it looks like since your mods?
it should have no build up and a nice tan color on the electrode
if it looks like it should i wouldnt change anything

 

I might try and pull it tonight and see what it looks like.

 

+1. I have never had the popping totally go away and have never heard or considered it as a problem if it's not excessive.

 

I thought about it tonight, before i put the 138 in i am going to start putting pieces of duct tape over the airbox to richen things up a bit. If it runs better I will go back in and bump the main up. If it doesn't,pulling the seat a coupletimes is a lot easier than pulling the carb.

 

I don't believe the main jet comes into play because it pops on decel......ie closed throttle conditions. Mine pops quite a bit ifI get out of the throttle quick when running above 6K or hard downshifting.

 

the low end grunt is gone once you put a aftermarket pipe on. you made the diameter bigger. the get low end grunt you want a pipe woth a smaller diameter and as long as possible. i found that out when i took my butt plug out of my bike.

 

I guess that means that I just have to go big bore to low end back then. I knew there had to be a good reason for putting the pipe on, now I know what it is
