How do my D605's look?
I'm not experienced in off-road tires and at what point you should change them. I've been running the the stock 605's for about 4500km (2800 miles). I think they still look fine, but wondering at what point to change them.
I'm surprised at how well the rear handles the terrain I ride. Front, not so much. I'd change them now, but hate to throw out a useable set of tires.
Here's some pics...

Not bad. The ***** still have square edges and good hight. Looks like they are starting to dry out and you may start to rip ***** off. With the power of the klx I feel you got time still.
When you are ready look into Kenda track masters. I put a pair on my plated kdx 220. Good street manners (as long as you are not trying to drag pegs)and awesome off-road. You would never think they were DOT.
You can get a pair for around $100 shipped.

I go by feel. I'm running a 60/40 road/off road and when the center flattens to a point where it gets wonky cornering hard on pavement is usually also about the time when I feel it not getting decent traction on loose surfaces. That's when I put on new tires. I'm going to say ball park 5mm tread. Just spins and when I lean over I can feel the transition from the flattened center area to the sidewall, quite noticeable because I'm usually chasing a friend or two on their supermoto type bikes.
Yours looks good for some more time, but think about the feel while riding, you'll see what I mean. Order far enough ahead that you don't have a lot of down time or back order on the tire(s). I usually do both tires since my front is heavily cupped and won't go two rear tires.

Thanks a lot for the advice guys. Looks like I've got plenty of life in these. Looking forward to the Trackmasters. It's one of my top considered tires. Thought about a trials tire--that Motoz mountain hybrid looks tempting--but Kenda is a Taiwan company and I can get a good price on them here. Seems a no brainer.

Be careful if you ride a lot of asphalt, Trackmasters are a lot noisier and squirm a lot more on pavement, BUT, great offroad! I like them and when I do the exhaust the noise will probably be drowned out by the Q4, not so much with the stock pee shooter!
