I have to agree with deej. Do you think "Quick Lube" buys quality oil? I used to sell top shelf oils for a living. My factory rep had a saying that I think applies here: "Even **** will lubricate for a little while...." I think Quick Lube, Jiffy Lube and others of the same ilk are using something a step or two above the ****, but not much.

While we are on the topic of mileage checks ... you guys ever hear of the crash dangers at around 3000 miles? I think this primarily applies to first time bike owners or folks getting back into it after a long time off. The theory is that at around the 3000 mile point, the rider is gaining a lot more confidence and beginning to take more chances, letting their guard down. And then crash. A similar study was done with Vietnam helicopter pilots and found that an inordinate number of pilots were crashing at around the 50 hours of flight time mark. They determined that at around the 50 hour mark many pilots would begin to get c0cky, skip preflight checks, and fly more aggressively. The connection is that 50 hours * 60 MPH = 3000 miles.

Actually that doesn't surprise me about that theory, I'm not a first time buyer, but it has been 20 years since I rode bikes off road. And I have been riding wheelies for longer distances and more often, thanks for the warning.

I just broke 1500 miles a few days ago I changed the oil around 200, again at 600 and again at 1000 and will probably do it every thousand or so until I switch to synthetic. Here's an updated photo of the bike, with mileage and tire wear check.

Hmm it appears tiny pic has conked out on me, figures. I wash it on a semi regular basis, I kinda like pulling into the office with my bike all muddy, take off all the gear and I'm wearing a dress shirt underneath.
