HMF slip on - exhaust leak

HMF slip on - exhaust leak
I installed a HMF slip on and as per manufacturer instructions, there is no gasket between stock header pipe and the muffler pipe. I can feel exhaust coming out of where the pipes join.
Is it normal or did I do something wrong?
Does anybody have a solution to that problem?
Thanks

Yeah I had to use exhaust sealant as it sounded like a machine gun at decel. I could never fully get rid of the popping totally and it still pops a little though which I kind of like the sound.

Not sure how big the mismatch is? but have used wraps of alum tape to build the small pipe up, then used high temp rtv to help to slide it together. Much more permanent than just rtv, which will eventullay burn out.

Sideways1,
I think I tried searching for those but they are in Australia (correct me if I am wrong). So unless you want to pay for shipping and wait for a while I would go with RTV and beer can.
Just cut a strip of an aluminum so it wraps around the muffler pipe without overlapping and wide enough to fit in to the head pipe opening until it narrows. (The reason I went with a beer can, because I wanted a beer and my muffler pipe did not fit in all the way in to the head pipe, so there was a small opening left where the slots are). Fit it first before you apply any RTV to it. Adjust as needed.
Spread the head pipe opening just a little bit, so it is easier to slide the muffler and aluminum.
Put a thin coat of Permatex Ultra Copper (rated at 750 F) on the muffler pipe and on both sides of aluminum strip. Have a bunch of paper towels ready, otherwise you will get that stuff all over your bike.
Slide you muffler pipe in to the head pipe with the aluminum "gasket".
It took me several tries, I had to re-apply RTV sealer every time but eventually it went in.
Attached image is what it looks like.
Good luck.
