HMF Report
Brief Introduction:
This will be my first post, however, I have been a faithful follower of this forum and the ADV Rider KLX 250S long term review thread.
I actually bought my 2006 KLX 250S in November of 2005. I have accumulated just over 8,000. miles now - Flawless!
Elevation - 850 to 5,000 (Blue Ridge Parkway)
Mods - All Free's, no airbox lid, Dynojet 128 main, needle on 3rd, fuel screw 2.5ish, Pelican 1150
Valves - 750 mi. slightly loose exhaust - no adjust. 7,500 mi. slightly loose intake - no adjust.
Gearing - 14/42 (tried 13 but prefer 14)
Tires - prefer Maxxis c6006
HMF
Just bolted up an HMF slip on this week. Longer stainless bolt and approx. 1/2" spacer was required to deal with the fender issue, also used a bit of high temp. silicone to address a small amount of blow by which was escaping at the clamp . . . a very small amount of engineering to inteGREAT this well crafted slip on. The HMF gives a verydeep richsound and a niceperformance boost (most relevantat the 6500 to 9500 rpm range, however, there's a bit on the bottom as well).
So the free mods. are now significantly augmented and the bike is performing much closer to its latent potential.
Many great rides to come on this outstanding dual sport!

Deel....sounds like you're possibly in my area....(I'm just east of Asheville). I hope to pick up my new (leftover) 06 250S on tuesday. I'm trying to get my "list" together of things that I need to go ahead and get while I'm at the dealer. I'm having a hard time deciding on which exhaust to go with.
If my deal goes thru...maybe we can get together and ride some?

Deel, welcome aboard! I ride up in your area all the time. I haven't had a chance to take my KLX up there but I love the mountain roads on my street bike. I enjoy the Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Pkwy, Deals Gap... you live right in the middle of the best roads in the world! It takes me about an hour to get to some really nice mountain riding then about another hour and a half to Deals Gap a great ride all the way there. I can't wait for warmer weather to get up there and enjoy it some more. I'll keep my eye out for any KLX's.
A good many KLXare afoot in North Carolina I see. As spring approaches a gather and ride may be in order!

With any luck at all...I'll be among the NC 250 owners by this time tomorrow. Got some folks on their way to nab $2500 worth of Harley parts from my endless collection tonight....that and my nest-eggwill give me enough to talk cash at the dealer tomorrow. They are "supposed" to be holding a leftover 06 for me until tomorrow evening. I'm desperately trying not to get all excited!
