Thanks everyone for the input on the HID lighting system. I just finished installing my kit last week and I am not sure if I like or not. It is a lot brighter and seems that it would work great during the day so other drivers can see me. However, at night the HID light seems to wash out and make it harder to see on the roads. I am not sure if it is an adjustment issue or not? I was out testing the light when I almost T-Boned a deer because I did not see the animal until it was too late. Had to lock up the brakes at 40 mph, but got the save. Does anyone have any suggestions on the adjustment? Also, any picks of how your bikes look at night with the HID light on? Thanks

I have seen guys modify the bulb holder to allow somewhat better focus but I suspect you'll always have an uneven light spread. The reflectors and housings of OEM HIDs are actually quite complex devices with different reflector angles, cutoffs and self-leveling mechanisms.

Without a proper projector lens a HID in a standard housing is just a bright, blown out blinding mess.

Good luck.

from the ones ive done on bikes, I had to aim lower then normal
mine would project bright light maybe 15 feet out
LOW

then still splash light up to 45 feet away at half brightness
I figured this wont put all the light up in others faces when coming towards me, never got flashed by them

I like to see farther away then up close and it was fine for me
and the extra light near me was no bother

but the bikes I had them on were 2 light bikes so I spread them pretty wide too so I had so much light at night it was great

never did a 1 light bike

I would say try aiming the lens down alot more dont concentrate on having the full light out far away keep it lower
and account for the rear end of the bike squatting when accelerating or else the beam will just pop back up higher

Thanks Mike, I have my headlight adjusted for 25 feet out and I will try 15 feet out to see if that distance seems to help.

I got that 2 pack of bulbs in today, the ones with blue glass that claim to put out 5000K color

They do look whiter if you look directly into the beam but so far look to put out less brightness
if that makes sense

also beam pattern is a hair different likes its not as bright around the far edges

I have pics

Was able to do a good night test last night, the light output is fine
even in pitch black roads and high beam was really nice

but nothing like HID's but for $7 for 2 bulbs its a good price

went ahead and ordered these 2x H4 60/55 Watt Xenon Halogen Headlight 5000K Light Bulbs | eBay

In state seller and 2 for a cheap price
I will try to do a before and after pic once installed
If I get 5000K or close to that color light I will be happy for the price
I was expecting to pay $30 for one bulb but $7 shipped for 2 why not try it
That ebay bulb is cheap but crap... I got one in my sf atm. Its definitely a whiter light, but the highbeam has a dark spot that it projects directly in the center of the road making it really useless; though I will admit it does add more light to the surrounding areas.

happened to go with someone to a hid store today so I said screw it bought one for my klx

also glad to say no battery drain at idle either so do have to worry about that, like on other bikes I have

so far it still has that nice flat cut off beam like the stock did

will take pics later
